Thermoanalytical techniques for characterizing sintering processes in ferrous powder metallurgy

چکیده
Abstract For powder metallurgy processing, the sintering stage, i.e. heat treatment of a compact below melting point -at least- major component, is decisive for establishing microstructure and properties. Thorough studying chemical metallurgical processes occurring during essential attaining optimal product properties, has therefore been focus investigations many decades. Thermoanalytical techniques, at best combined with analysis, enable in-situ characterization process from perspectives. When using these techniques in metallurgy, it should be considered that very large specific surface compact, compared to solid metallic body, results much higher reactivity surrounding atmosphere. This atmosphere on one hand “external” one, outside body free space furnace, other “internal” within pore network specimen. paper shows different examples how critical information about can described by thermoanalytical mass spectroscopy: e.g. phase transformations liquid formation powdered deoxidation decarburization reactions, interstitial redistribution sintered alloy steels prepared through alloying techniques.

The ways in which the sciences have been delineated and categorized throughout history provide insights into the formation, stabilization, and establishment of scientific systems of knowledge. The Dresdener school’s approach for explaining and categorizing the genesis of the engineering disciplines is still valid, but needs to be complemented by further-reaching methodological and theoretical r...
متن کاملSintering Aids in Powder Metallurgy THE ROLE OF THE PLATINUM METALS IN THE ACTIVATED SINTERING OF REFRACTORY METALS
When a metallic powder is subjected to a suffkiently high pressure a certain amount of adhesion takes place between individual particles. If this compact i s then sintered the bond is improved by diflusion and intergranular grain growth. The earliest known platinum objects were fabricated by such a powder metallurgical process, and when European scientists first addressed the problem of manufac...

Powder mixing has been the subject of substantial research due to its importance in a variety of industrial sectors, including pharmaceuticals, food, and polymer manufacturing. Although a number of different models have been proposed in the literature, most of them are either empirical or require computationally intensive calculations that make them difficult to implement for realistic systems....
متن کاملEffect of Sintering Temperature on Density, Porosity and Hardness of a Powder Metallurgy Component
The residual porosity is an unavoidable phenomenon of the components produced by powder metallurgy process which in turn largely affects the strength property of the same. Now a day it is possible to control porosity of powder metallurgy components and retain them to desired amount when required. The porosity of a powder metallurgy component is greatly depends on the sintering temperature. In t...
